Well, well, well...It's been quite a while since I was here.
I've been settling into a new home and going through the process of setting up a small business doing fine art prints and trying to sell my (art)works full-time.
One of the great assets of living in an advanced western democracy (let's not get into petty political nuance just now) is the fact that we have income support structures that give us social security payments and a range of other options for survival. One of Australias wonderful niche programs is called NEIS (New Enterprise Incentive Scheme). This is a scheme that allows the unemployed to pursue a business idea and be financially supported and business mentored through the first year of operation. I am in this program and I feel privileged. It's intense, exciting, challenging, frustrating, enlightening, stressful and full on. I have done so much research I fel like a walking wiki!
The downside is that it has taxed my creativity and I need to start geting the balance back because what I am doing is driven by the creativity and the need to have that in my life all the time.
My motivating factor in all this is to be self supporting and personally fulfilled going into retirement. You see I am not your typical male baby boomer (I am 56 remember, for those of you under 20 I am dead or 30). I have no kids, house, major investments, car, viagra scripts, bitterness, delusions or insurmountable prejudices.
There is also an imperative to 'give back'to life and balance that which I have taken.
BACKLOG Almost 3,000 images in my inbox, DA version upgrades, new features, news articles and a whole load of marketing shit, that is marketing shit because DA just cannot seem to master the need to transform themselves.
I once promised myself that I would always view every image in my inbox before discarding them and I did. Until now. I want to keep that promise to myself but I am now wavering because having viewed and edited 1,000 of the 3,000 and knowing that this time tomorrow the other 2,000 will be 2,100 I need to be harsh.
I chose the best I could but more than that I chose that which inspires me right now and there is still so much of that, it's like a beer on a hot day after a 40km walk or the view from the mountaintop after a hard climb.
I love you guys.

FEATURE I have a soft spot for Indonesian artists. They're close to Australia and I love the islands and people. They also have a warmth of humanity that shows through like here with KW, give him some attention...

FINALLY Take care! I'll submit some personal stuff from time to time and I'll give you the web address when it's up and running and I will drop in every now and then...
Miss you guys though...
